Ryan Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Got an email this morning. Some new releases coming out next February. Looks like the festival is Feb 23rd-27th, if anyone's interested.. Anyway Monday night: Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Club Kings Wednesday night: La Casa Del Habano Partagas Maduro N°1. Interesting. Friday Gala: Montecristo 80 Aniversario Medias Coronas 3
Lant63 Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 What the &%$# is Habanos thinking? On a scale of bad to utter disaster how bad is the Partagas maduro going to be with the history of the Cohiba Maduros? MHO=pass Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva after the not well received Reserva Churchill? What size would they use? There are 10,000 to choose from. It will probably be the belicosos I think, maybe the CAZ. Also, I am shocked this is not a Hoyo release as it is the only Global brand not to have a Reserva/GR(save for JLP). Montecristo 80 Aniversario Medias Coronas I assume this will be an EL, I would be shocked otherwise. If this is the same size as the Cohiba Media Corona or the h upmann I would buy lots of these. However, I think they are just using the name and it will have a 80 ring gauge. 3
Dara Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Never had a club king but also have never heard anyone rave about how great they used to be. Seems a strange choice to make a discontinued Petit Corona a GR, but then strange thinking is sometimes what they do best. Also the launch of the GR on the Monday night seemed odd to me when I read the email....The GRs and Reservas are always launched at the gala night rather than opening night as those are the big bucks tickets compared to Mondays cheaper prices. Like Lant, I was thinking the reserva would be a Hoyo Epicure this year so it will be interesting to see what Rob and the guys hear in November to confirm if Freds email is correct!

IMHO, that would be one of the best things HSA has done in a long time.
CaptainQuintero Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Cool thanks for the info Andy! I'm not putting too much weight into the names of the cigar equating to vitola, it sounds like similar to this years releases: using old names on new big cigars. Like the 'idea' of a Monte medias coronas and a RyJ corona though:)
Ryan Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 Now I'm hearing rumours of a H Upmann Magnum 56 Limited Edition. Makes sense I suppose, with how things are going.
... Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Don't worry, I'm confident they'll sell them all regardless

... Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I hear you Lant. I'd be a sucker for a Hoyo DC reserva 1

in0gravity Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Some more Information: The RyJ Club Kings will be indeed a Mareva Format. The Monte 80 Aniversario Medias Corona will be a Half Corona. regards Lars 2
Lotusguy Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 The way they have been pricing new releases lately, they have lost me as a buyer. I love the Connie A, for example but I simply won't touch a >$10 stick when there are so many others to choose from. Oh, and another Maduro release - the sound you hear is HSA jumping the shark

I wonder what their reasoning is, begs the question if the 80 Aniversario is a EL or not, would be smaller than the H Upmann Magnum 48 1

I doubt it will be a EL.

... Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Great info Steve, many thanks. I agree Lant, the Maravillas is quite large even according to my standard The 20 ct box would be too much for me. Maybe a fiver sampler...
